Royal Air Force Base, Kai Tak concurs that it will be
satisfactory from a flying point of view.
Although the temporary Royal Air Force
buildings stand on the site proposed for the Civil
establishment, it is considered, in view of the
comparatively small amount of accommodation which it
is assumed will be provided for civil aircraft at
present that sufficient space can be found for the
buildings required. The arrangement would be in some
respect inconvenient but could be adopted as a
temporary measure, It is observed however that work
has been commenced on the construction of the
We
Western slipway shown on plan "B", and in order to
avoid unnecessary expense at the present time it may be
preferable to complete this slipway and use it for
Civil purposes in the first instance, the necessary
buildings being erected in its vicinity. It is
thought that you would prefer this scheme to which I
see no objection. If the lay out shown on plan HK1.
is finally approved by Air Ministry the slipway will
be required as part of the Royal Air Force establishment
and could be taken over under terms to be arranged
when the transfer becomes necessary. As it is
unlikely that the small shed to be erected now for the
housing of civil aircraft would be of use for Service
aircraft, it is suggested that this be erected on the
site of the Northern
of the two seaplane sheds shown
on plan HK1 so that it would not interfere with the
construction of the first permanent seaplane shed
should the transfer of the Civil establishment to the
Western site not have been effected before the
erection of this shed is undertaken.
An examination of the extent of the aerodrome
